Western Nebraska Early Childhood Conference

Unfortunately, due to the dramatic rise in COVID-19 cases in the Panhandle and updated WNCC COVID-19 policy, it has been determined to CANCEL the Western Nebraska Early Childhood Conference scheduled for this Saturday, October 17th. At this time, none of the sessions will be rescheduled.

In the ever-changing world of COVID-19, the Western Nebraska Early Childhood Conference has modified its traditional format to better accommodate safety guidelines while still providing high-quality professional development for childcare providers. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn what you need to keep today’s youth safe, happy and healthy in the “new normal”—and have some fun!

All training sessions will take place on Saturday, October 17th at the WNCC Harms Center. Lunch is provided for all sessions.

Please review each session carefully. You can register for more than one session but please note the times of each session to avoid overlapping.

ELG: Social & Emotional Development

This workshop provides information to support young children’s learning in the domain of Social and Emotional Development:
• To develop self-awareness and sense of self
• To manage emotions with increasing independence
• To develop foundational skills to support cooperation and prosocial behavior
• To show interest in, interacts with, and develops personal relationships with others
• To develop a sense of belonging to family, community, and other groups

ELG: Heath & Physical

This workshop provides information to support young children’s learning in the domain of Health & Physical:
• To Examine the Differences between Gross (Large) and Fine (Small Motor Development.
• To Discover Strategies to Support both Gross and Fine Motor Development
• To Discover Ways to Promote Independent Practices for Health/Safety
• To Examine how the Environment Supports Health and Physical Development
• To Explore Ways to Promote Independent Practices for Personal Care and Nutrition

PLAY!

Play is an essential part of brain development, physical development and learning-for ALL ages. Come and discover the ‘why’ of the importance of play and how to incorporate it into your daily routine.

Animal Personality
Oct. 17th / 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Trainer: Cindy Molina

Come and find out your ‘animal personality’ and how it plays out in your day-to-day routines in childcare. Find useful ways to use your strengths, and what areas you need to build on.

Safe With You
Oct. 17th / Noon- 4:00 p.m.
4 Lic. Req.
Trainer: Brittain Trave

Safe With You is a 4-hour required license training for childcare providers, preschool staff, and after school providers. Topics include Safe Sleep, Abusive Head Trauma and Power to Protect. This training must be renewed every 5 years.

Supervision of Children
Oct. 17th / 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
2 Lic. Req.
Trainer: Sarah Ochoa

Supervision of Children provides participants with appropriate ways to interact with and supervise children. This session explains what high quality supervision looks like and helps to identify strengths and concerns for a program. You will also discover tools to help you develop an action plan to provide high quality care.
