Boys & Girls Learn Differently
April 26 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm MDT| $35.00
Renowned educator, marriage and family counselor, and New York Times bestselling author Dr. Michael Gurian reveals how the minds of boys and girls develop and provides best practices for caregivers, educators, and parents who support the behavioral, academic, and emotional needs of children in the early childhood years. Gurian brings to life the developmental sciences of sex and gender from perspectives of nature, nurture, and culture, and discusses the new sciences of transgender studies, gender fluidity, and the gender spectrum.
In the afternoon, Gurian Certified Trainer and teacher/counselor Eva Dwight provides strategies, tools, and learning techniques, as well as practical work on behavior and empathy development. Both Gurian and Dwight will focus on complex issues regarding why and how boys, especially, find themselves at odds with some preschool environments, including the greater likelihood of young males to “fail” early childhood assessments and evaluations.
The Gurian Institute provides advanced onsite and online training for educators and other professionals, as well as parents and community stakeholders. Dr. Gurian and our trainers travel to school and conference locations and consulting, and we co-sponsor a multi-day training institute hosted by our partners in locations around continental United States. Our work is a powerful deep dive into the minds of boys and girls that has been proven successful in helping schools and communities throughout the world.
